CarPlay MMI lets you connect your iPhone wirelessly. It only takes one wireless pairing of your iPhone and CarPlay MMI to help the the MMI recognize your iPhone each time you get in your car and connect wirelessly, without you even having to remove your phone from your pocket or bag. When using CarPlay you’ll be able to answer calls just like with a Bluetooth hands-free connection.

If you’d rather connect your iPhone with the use of cable, you are also free to do so. CarPlay MMI supports both wired and wireless phone connections.

The kit contains a Multimedia Interface (MMI) — a module that also adds Android Auto to your Mercedes-Benz. So if you have family members or friends with Android smartphones, connecting their devices will be a breeze too!

To enjoy Android Auto wirelessly your phone has to support the wireless Android Auto. If it doesn’t, you’ll still be able to use the Android Auto via USB – Just make sure you have the Android Auto app installed on your phone.

Android Auto on your car display (with a USB cable)

1. An Android phone running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and up with a data plan. For best performance, we recommend Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and up.
2. A high-quality USB cable.
3. The Android Auto app (if you’re using Android 10 or higher, the app is already on your phone).

The biggest feature of CarPlay MMI is its perfect compatibility with OEM systems.
When you press the “NAV” button, you can freely switch between the CarPlay MMI system and the OEM system. (Different models use different buttons to switch the system. Please refer to the user manual or installation instructions)

You can enjoy the convenience brought by the CarPlay system without losing the functionality of the original system.

Easy control with OEM Knobs and Controls

To navigate the CarPlay apps, you can use Siri or the OEM Knobs & Controls and steering wheel button controls. If your original display screen supports touch control, you can also control it by touch.

If your car has the original rear camera, when you put it in reverse, whether you’re using CarPlay or Android auto or another app, the system will automatically switch to the reverse camera screen without having to manually switch. When shifting from reverse to drive, it returns automatically.

The MMI module makes it easy to add front and reversing cameras to your order for a much lower price. It will work just like the original camera.

CarPlay MMI lets you use all your favorite CarPlay-compatible iPhone apps on the OEM display in full-screen. It is perfectly compatible with all screen sizes, be it 7″, 8″ , 8.4″ or 5.8″.

The Full-Screen mode also includes a Screen Mirroring option, which lets you cast the screen of your mobile device onto the Audi’s display, and stream audio through the car speakers. iPhones mirror wirelessly, while Android phones require a cable connection.

Please note that mirroring of some apps or content using the Screen Mirroring feature may be blocked due to the copyright-holder’s DRM. WAKAA is not responsible for the continued compatibility of any third-party apps with CarPlay MMI.

The audio output circuit in the CarPlay MMI has been specifically selected to squeeze all the quality we can out of the iDrive AUX input, providing great audio quality for music, streaming and calls.

Our CarPlay solution comes with a USB port. It lets you charge your iPhone on longer drives.

The MMI’s USB port can also be used in the future for software updates. make sure to place it in an accessible location.
